Not too long ago, I frequently had a lot of aches and pains in my body and my energy levels were constantly up and down like a roller coaster. I also felt bloated after most meals (thinking it was normal) and would have periods of mental fog where I just couldn’t focus well.
At the time it baffled me because I thought, “I’m a super healthy guy and not that old”.
I mean, as a doctor of chiropractic and yoga teacher I’m ridiculously passionate about health and felt well educated in all areas relating to it.
The problem was that I was missing some important pieces of the puzzle that I was either ignoring or simply unaware of when it came to MY health…
That got me thinking about two things:
- As a health junkie, if I was unaware of these things, then what does everyone else believe effective habits are for vibrant health?...and
- Could there be ONE, common underlying factor that impacts your health and performance more than anything else? One that you can learn to remedy yourself therefore making everything else in life better too?
Most health professionals, and people in general, know that achieving and maintaining optimal health requires discipline in multiple areas of life but what they don’t know is that all these factors can impact ONE big problem that contributes to almost every modern health problem or disease!
That problem is:
Low Grade Chronic Inflammation
Chronic inflammation has become one of the hottest areas of medical research and was even labeled on the cover of TIME magazine as the “The Silent Killer”.
It’s the common thread linking a wide variety of health problems and it often feels like every week there is another study uncovering a new way that chronic inflammation does harm to the body.
To clarify, you actually need some level of inflammation in your body to be healthy (acute inflammation = Good) but when the body loses it’s ability to switch it off or triggers inflammation when there is no real threat, then an excess more systemic inflammation can set in (chronic inflammation = Bad).
The problem and reason it’s called the “silent killer” is because it can often go unnoticed for a long time, silently damaging your tissues until a loss of function occurs somewhere in the body initiating some symptoms. If left unchecked it can contribute to serious conditions like Autoimmune diseases, Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, cancer, allergies and obesity depending on the organs or system the inflammation is effecting.
Fortunately, before the more serious conditions set in, there are some early warning signs you may experience first but they often get ignored (this is what happened to me) because they creep up on you slowly.
If you suffer from any of the following, you’ll want to implement some of the suggestions we make in part 2 of this post to get your life and health back on track.
Early warning signs of Low Grade Chronic Inflammation:
- Unexplainable fatigue
- Random stomach issues, indigestion, bloating after eating, or even weight gain
- Persistent aches and pains for no reason or unexplained stiffness in your body and joints
- Difficulty concentrating or a cloudy feeling in your head
- Trouble getting started in the morning
Most of these early warning signs were what began slowly creeping up on me a few years back and I couldn’t understand why. I’m just grateful to be in the natural health field and so was able to find the answers I needed to make some positive changes.
If you feel like you’re experiencing any of the above or just don’t feel like you’re thriving in life, then there is a high probability you have some degree of chronic inflammation.
- It’s not normal,
- It’s not because you’re getting old
- and you don’t have to put up with it until it becomes something more serious.
To take a proactive approach and learn how to get your healthy mojo back by combating chronic inflammation, especially with your diet, you can...
